Q: How much does a music video cost?

A: Broadcast quality music videos start from £5,000. None broadcast (e.g. for Youtube) can cost as little as £2k.

There are many variables which affect cost:

(a) Location(s) of the shoot: This may be a studio, public areas, hired venue or a combination of locations. Many places will require filming permission from local authorities in advance of the shoot, and lighting requirements will also be a fundamental consideration at all sites. Please also note that some venues may also require a qualified electrician on-site or other additional services such as set building.

(b) The Shoot/Crew Members: Each crew member brings with them years of skill and expertise. Therefore the number of crew members (such as producer/directors, camera operators, lighting technicians, sound recordists) and the types of equipment they will be using will affect the overall cost. For live performances, it is recommended that there are 2/3 cameras and operators as a minimum.

(c) Post Production: The whole video will come together in the edit. Depending on what you ultimately want in the video, the number of days and editors it will take to complete will be variable. If you also require motion graphic integration, these graphics will need to be designed and integrated into the edit. Depending on the type of graphic, and its duration, costs vary.
